Influence of Exhaust Pipe Structure on Urea-Related Deposits in Diesel Engine SCR System

To solve the problem of deposits formation in exhaust pipe a diesel engine SCR (selective catalytic reduction) system, CFD (computational fluid dynamics) model was established to research influence structural parameters on wall film from perspective optimizing flow field. The solid structure simplified modeling without considering fields inside converter. simulation conditions were obtained through bench tests and vehicle real road tests. spray temperature results verified via high-speed photographic under three typical operating conditions. conclusions are as follows: compared case with step surface, mass reduced by 48.27~55.4% when had no surface; where nozzle orifices located 10 mm off center axis, 2.83~6.38% axis pipe; 110 mm, 21.3~24.72% diameter 100 mm. eliminate potential deposit converter, should be arranged close turbine, there abrupt cross-section downstream pipe.
